This spring, in partnership with the Tamarack Institute, and the Get S#!t Done Foundation (GeShiDo Foundation), we published a review on the state of Mega, Market and Venture-Philanthropy in Canada.

The case study, “Transforming One Million Lives,” highlights the impact that a lack of coordinated flow of large-scale and venture philanthropy has on solving complex societal issues – housing, mental health and food security.

Over the course of eight months the leadership team met with funders from coast to coast to coast to better understand what they want to see happen in Canada’s philanthropic sector and what they are working towards. The findings are likely not surprising to some, and the call to action is clear – funders need to talk to each other and integrate their giving beyond grantmaking.
